Then this morning, I found this video on a device called the Amplifi Teleport Opens a new window which appears to be hardware VPN package (not something I knew existed.) consisting of a router that you leave in your home/office, and a device that pairs with the router - and then can be taken with you anywhere in the world, and then you can plug it into a standard power outlet and access your home wifi network. I have the hardware Teleport and it works flawlessly. (Currently our server is setup with a bi-directional cloud sync to Google Drive, and everyone just accesses the Google Drive folder while at home).
